What materials are used for Ahinsa shoes?

All of the materials we use are manufactured exclusively in the European Union and have the strictest health attestations. We know all the manufacturers personally and we can guarantee you top quality and ethical production conditions.

We use both natural materials (such as linen and hemp) and high-end microfiber materials, which are waterproof and permeable at the same time.

Are my shoes waterproof?

Ahinsa shoes are made only from the highest quality certified materials from the European Union. For example, CF+ High Performance is a special waterproof yet permeable microfiber. (It is not a 100% waterproof permeable rubber boot, but the material has a significantly increased water resistance.)

Also, on selected models, we use a laminated MEMBRANE on the lining, which does not let moisture into the shoe, but wicks away perspiration.

Will my feet stay warm in Ahinsa shoes?

Unlike in a classic shoe, the foot can move fully and be active in a barefoot shoe – muscles work, metabolic processes are in motion, heat is generated, and your foot warms up.

People often have “frozen feet” in an insulated shoe even with woolen socks. This is because the foot does not move freely and does not warm up. Ahinsa shoes are the exact opposite – the foot can work and warm up naturally. :)
As an example, when you go chopping wood in the winter, you also don’t need warm gloves. Your hands will warm up even in thin gloves (or without gloves) because they are active, they are working -- just like your feet in Ahinsa shoes. And it's not just your feet but also the whole body benefits from it – see, for example, these articles on our blog >>

But for extra cold days, the winter boots are enhanced with an extra-insulated insole with a membrane :) Upon request, we can also send these insoles for already purchased Ahinsa boots. The price is 210 CZK including VAT – please contact us at info@ahinsashoes.com.

What about breathability?

All our materials are completely breathability. Even those materials that look “artificial” are breathable (and, at the same time, have increased water resistance).

For example, CF+ High Performance – this is a special microfiber that laminates itself while piercing itself in a special way – thus achieving a waterproof and breathable effect.

CF+ High Performance is probably the best material currently available – it is very expensive and its manufacturer always says that if we tell him one objectively measurable parameter (water resistance, breathability, abrasion or flex resistance, etc.), in which animal skin is better, then he will give us 100 meters for free :) And honestly, so far neither we nor our customers have found any such parameter – it is a real high-end technological “miracle” :)

In addition, even during the production process, as one of the few companies, we do not glue the uppers to the lining at all or only in points, which again maintains maximum breathability

What about adhesion?

The pattern on most of our models (wave line) is inspired by German material designed for maximum adhesion – if you look at the “wave line” in more detail, where one "wave" has its peak, the other has its minimum, which is one of the “secrets” of great adhesion.

In addition, the shoe and sole are completely flexible in ALL DIRECTIONS and can adhere perfectly to the surface. It is this larger contact surface that brings significantly better adhesion properties on various types of surfaces compared to a classic shoe with a solid sole, which touches the uneven parts with only a part of its surface, and the adhesive area is significantly smaller.
