Active Insoles – Rediscover the Joy of Walking | Ahinsa shoes

Active Insoles held outdoors

Rediscover the joy of walking:

Active Insoles

Active Insoles gently stimulate the receptors in your feet and encourage them to take a more active role when you walk or stand.
They offer a gentle sensory cue that reminds your feet of their natural work.

Awaken your feet with every step

Active Insoles are easy to make part of your everyday routine, giving your feet a little gentle care. On your way to work, while waiting for the tram, on an evening walk or during exercise — every step is a chance to become a little more aware of your feet.

They work best in barefoot and anatomically shaped shoes, but you can also wear them in regular shoes with enough room.

Detail of the stimulation surface of Active Insoles

How do Active Insoles work?

They contain gentle stimulation elements that act on selected areas of the foot.

These stimulation points are designed to:

  • improve your awareness of contact with the ground
  • encourage more active engagement throughout the body
  • support a more sensitive landing and active push-off when walking
  • support your sense of stability when standing

Rather than passively correcting the foot, they provide a sensory cue that draws your attention to how your feet actually work. Better awareness gives your body an opportunity to engage more actively and learn more natural movement.

Clara Lewitová — physiotherapist

“Awareness is the key.”

The body can change most readily when it becomes more aware of what it is doing.

How we stand, sit, walk and move involves more than muscles. Movement patterns in our brain — learned ways of holding, supporting and moving the body — also play a major role.

When we pay little attention to our feet, the brain receives less useful feedback from them. The body may then seek stability elsewhere, through tension, overloading, unnecessary compensation or passively leaning into the joints.

Active Insoles provide sensory cues from the feet. They do not correct your body for you; they offer an input that can help it engage more actively.

Physiotherapy and awareness of movement

What do our customers say?

“I can finally feel my toes on the ground and press them into the insoles as I walk. They “make” me walk more slowly and become more aware of standing upright.”

Karolina

“After a few days of wearing the insoles, my feet feel pleasantly relaxed. I was surprised by how much more attentive you become and how much more you notice your feet working.”

Vendula

“Active Insoles feel like a daily foot massage. When I wear them, I am much more aware of my feet making contact with the ground.”

Your questions, answered

Who should take extra care with Active Insoles?

If you have health concerns, consult a physiotherapist or doctor before use, especially if you have significant or persistent foot pain, a recent injury or operation, neurological symptoms, reduced sensation in your feet or another serious health condition.

Can I use them during exercise or running?

Active Insoles can be used during strength training, running and other physical activities. Gentle stimulation can help you become more aware of support through your feet and how your body engages. Start gradually and give your feet time to adapt.

What kind of shoes are they suitable for?

They work best in barefoot and anatomically shaped shoes that give your feet enough room to move naturally. You can also use them in regular shoes, provided they are not too narrow or tight.

Are Active Insoles a medical device?

No. Active Insoles are not a medical device and do not replace professional diagnosis, physiotherapy or medical care. They are designed to support foot awareness and more active engagement when walking and standing.

Consult a doctor or physiotherapist before use, especially if you have:

  • diabetes, particularly with reduced sensation or neuropathy
  • impaired sensation
  • open wounds, pressure sores or skin problems
  • an acute injury or pain
  • significant neurological symptoms
  • serious balance or coordination difficulties
  • any doubt about whether the insoles are suitable for you

If you experience pain, worsening symptoms or an unpleasant reaction, stop using them and seek professional advice.

Will they relieve foot, knee or back pain?

We cannot promise that. Your feet influence movement throughout the body, so greater awareness and engagement may contribute to more comfortable movement. If you have pain or other health concerns, consult a physiotherapist or doctor.

When will I notice a difference?

Everyone responds differently. Some people notice a change when they first put them on; others need time to get used to the new sensation. Start slowly and gradually increase wear time as comfortable.

Can I trim the insoles to fit my shoes?

Yes. Trim them gradually, removing small amounts at a time. Check the fit before cutting. Once trimmed, they are no longer in their original, unused condition; please see our returns policy for the applicable conditions. Trimming does not remove your statutory rights concerning defects.

Can I wear them with socks?

They are primarily designed for bare feet. You can adjust the intensity with socks: thin socks soften the stimulation slightly, while thicker socks reduce it further.

The sensation should be clear but comfortable, never painful.

How do I care for the insoles?

Air them regularly and wipe with a damp cloth when needed. Do not machine-wash them or dry them directly on a heat source.

Can children use Active Insoles?

The current range is designed for adults in EU sizes 37–46. A children’s version is not currently being developed.

What about returns or a problem with my order?

Please follow the returns and complaints policy for our international store. Check the fit before trimming or altering the insoles, as alterations affect their condition for a return. Your statutory rights remain unaffected.

Support and stimulation: two different approaches

Supportive insoles
Active Insoles
SupportFocus on supporting the arch from underneath.
StimulationGentle sensory cues to the sole of the foot.
External supportProvide support through their shape and structure.
Active engagementEncourage awareness of the toes, arch and whole foot.
PositioningMay be designed to guide foot position.
AwarenessDraw attention to contact with the ground.
StructureThe degree of support depends on the particular insole.
Natural movementDesigned to work with the foot’s natural movement.

Insoles differ in design and purpose. This comparison explains the approach; it is not a recommendation to replace prescribed orthotic insoles.
